CD: Margarita Höhenrieder - Wiener Symphoniker - Conductor: Fabio Luisi
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Robert Schumann - Frédéric Chopin
"Beautiful playing - everything just right. Pianist, conductor, and orchestra are all excellent. I don’t need another recording of the Schumann, so I wish she had chosen another work. The Chopin sounds like more Mozart, of course - not only in style, but the music is actually Mozart’s, arranged by Chopin. Delightful - and she makes the rhythms sparkle.
It is wonderful that this kind of playing can still be heard: resolutely un-mechanical, instinctively poetic, tonally beautiful. She is from Munich and seems quite young, but she has played with a great many famous conductors and is a friend of Alfred Brendel."
